Director Siddique is under tremendous pressure. The film is a remake of his original Bodyguard which featured Dileep and Nayanthara in Malayalam which was remade as Kaavalan with Vijay and Asin in Tamil.
Siddique will become the first directors whose original film in Malayalam has been remade in four other languages in a space of 18 months.
Please note that Bodyguard is also being made in Telugu as Bodyguard with Venkatesh and Trisha and in Kannada also titled Bodyguard with Jaggesh . Both these versions have other directors helming the project.
Siddique has only made south Indian movies in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu which were super hits for the last three decades. Now for the first time he is doing a Hindi film.
Says Siddique: “Bodyguard is basically a romantic story which I wrote five years back and was supposed to be made first with Vijay in Tamil. Due to certain circumstances it came out first in Malayalam then Tamil and now I’m doing it in Hindi.”
Siddique has tweaked the story line in Tamil and later in Hindi for “local nativity purpose.” Says Siddique: “ I did the remake first in Tamil and incorporated some changes to suit Vijay’s image. Similarly I have made changes in Hindi Bodyguard to suit Salman Bhai’s image.”
Bodyguard is all set to be Salman Khan’s hat-trick of hits after Dabangg and Ready. Concludes Siddique with a smile: “ I’m confident like the Malayalam and Tamil Hindi Bodyguard will be a super-hit.”
