Shah Rukh Khan’s third movie – ‘Happy New Year’ enters Oscar Library

Farah Khan’s latest multi-starrer ‘Happy New Year’ which made a smashing hit at the box office has added yet another success feather to its hat. Buzz is that, Happy New Year has the great opportunity to be in the prestigious Oscar Library. This news was shared by the filmmaker herself via Twitter. Thanking her writers, Farah had tweeted, “1 more reason 2 celebrate!! #HNY script goes to the Oscar library!! Bigg kiss to my co writers @mayurpuri n Althea k”.

Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood, Boman Irani and Vivaan Shah, ‘Happy New Year’ is written by Mayur Puri and Althea Kaushal. Although the film received mixed reviews, it has become the highest grossing movie ever in Bollywood.

As per reports, the script of HNY finds itself a place in the Core Collection of Library of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. It will be used for research purposes by film students, filmmakers, writers, actors and others from the field of cinema.

Incidentally, Shah Rukh Khan’s earlier films namely ‘Devdas’ and ‘Chak De’ too have entered the Oscar Library.

Superstars Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan hugged each other at an Iftaar party here, indicating the two actors who were not on talking terms post the incident at Katrina Kaif’s birthday bash in 2008, have perhaps patched up.

The actors, who were attending Congress leader Baba Siddique’s annual Iftar party after a long time, faced each other, shook hands and hugged each other when Siddiqui asked them to meet each other.

Both Shah Rukh and Salman seemed perfectly fine, the latter being the one who took the initiative to shake hands and hug Shah Rukh.

The Iftar party took place at Banra Taj Lands End.

Ranbir wins Brand Ambassador Award

Actor Ranbir Kapoor has received brand ambassador of the year award for KWAN, an entertainment and marketing company, by Storyboard Consumer Awards organised by CNBC Awaaz.

“Brand endorsements provide a great additional avenue to reach out to audiences along with our films. I am thrilled to have associations that are in line with my personality and my beliefs,” Ranbir said in a statement.

The 29-year-old received the honour from Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan Wednesday while KWAN has been named the “Agency of the Year”.

The previous recipients of the brand ambassador of the year award include Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar and Genelia D’Souza for different brands that they have promoted.

Shah Rukh Khan to launch Ganesh Hegde’s album

Choreographer-singer Ganesh Hegde feels obliged as superstar Shah Rukh Khan, amidst his gruelling schedule, has readily agreed to launch his forthcoming album Lets Party Monday.

‘He was eager to launch my album. I changed my date three times as I was not ready. He was also very busy with RA.One and Don2 but he still obliged and said whatever date you finally fix I would make time for you,’ Hegde told IANS.

He regards SRK as his mentor, said Hegde.

‘I have been doing lots of work with SRK since the last 15 years. He was very instrumental in helping me with my first album G. He is like a mentor and elder brother to me,’ said Hegde, who choreographed film Don and Temptations Reloaded (2008) tour of SRK.

Hegde has choreographed for films like Agni Sakshi (1996), Khamoshi: The Musical (1996), ‘Fiza (2000), the song Mitwa from Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India (2001) and ‘Koi… Mil Gaya (2003).

Hegde’s Lets Party is an endeavour to revive Indian pop music. Actor Hrithik Roshan and actresses Priyanka Chopra and Bipasha Basu feature in different hip-hop numbers of the album.

SRK & Mohanlal takes Kollam by storm

Shah Rukh Khan flew down to Thiruvananthapuram for a few hours to inaugurate a five star resort in Kollam.

The Raviz resort situated on Ashtamudi lake in Kollam, 65 Kilometres from Thiruvananthapuram  is owned by NRI businessman Ravi Pillai.

Kerala Chief Minister Oomen Chandy inaugurated the resort. Malayalam superstar Mohanlal was there along with SRK to give it a glitzy look.

It ensured a huge turnout at Kollam as fans wanted a closer look at the two superstars.

SRK made the right speech and made it a point to use some Malayalam words. “ I have been here in Kerala earlier for the shoot of Dil Se, and now I’m back for the inauguration of this truly exotic resort. I came on the request of Priyadarsan and Mohanlal, I’m sure I will learn to speak Malayalam from them.” He also entertained the crowds with a few punchlines from his forthcoming Don 2.

SRK and  Mohanlal, also launched the logo for “Kollam Feast”, a tourism promotion campaign, at the Asramam Maidan in Kollam, which made the state government happy.
