This Ramzan season will witness an interesting battle, in Malayalam

Megastar Mammootty is all set to bounce back to winning ways after three flops this year, with Manglish. And taking him on is none other than his son and young hero, Dulquer Salmaan.

Dulquer is playing the hero (along with Unni Mukundan) in Lal Jose’s Vikramadityan. He is playing a rough and tough youth named Adityan. Dulquer is currently flying high after the super success of Bangalore Days.

Lal Jose is a happy man

Lal Jose had made many blockbusters like Meesa Madhavan and Classmates as a director.

But the irony is that when he came before the camera, the movies bombed at the box office.

Now, in his third attempt, Lal Jose is lucky. In Best Actor he has done asmall role and the film is running successfully in theatres.

Lal Jose had done cameo roles in Azhagiya Ravanan and Rock and Roll earlier.

In Kamal directed Azhagiya Ravanan Lal Jose appeared as an assistant director in a film shooting who prompts Innocents character. And that is one of the best comic scenes in Malayalam movies. But the film didn’t clicked at the box office.

In Rock and Roll , he appeared as himself. That movie was also a flop. Now Lal Jose is relieved that Best Actor is slowly becoming a hit.

In a channel interview yesterday, the noted director said: “I was very comfortable while acting in Best Actor.”

Mammootty receives another Doctorate

One of the best actors of contemporary Indian cinema, the only Megastar of Mollywood, Mammootty was conferred with yet another D-Litt today. This time it was University of Calicut, conferring the big title on the greatest actor.

The conferment of Degree was made by the state Governor and chancellor of the University R S Gawai. The vice-chancellor of the university, Dr Anwar Jahan Zuberi and many eminent personalities from cinema and academics were present on the occasion.

Expressing his happiness to receive this honorary D.Litt, Mammootty said that this is a token of reminder of the people’s faith in him, and a reassurance of the role art and artistes have in our society.
