Jeethu Joseph’s next with Prithviraj

Director Jeethu Joseph, whose Papanasam released recently, will have a Malayalam release coming up soon, Life of Josootty, with Dileep playing the lead.

The filmmaker is currently busy with the post production works of Life of Josootty, which is an Onam release.

Once the work is over, he will start with the pre-production of his next venture, starring Prithviraj. Jeethu has earlier directed Prithviraj in Memories.

According to certain insiders involved in the project, the film is a thriller with lots of action sequences. But these are early days. Jeethu has also announced another project with Kavya Madhavan in the lead.

Saji Surendran’s ‘She Taxi’ begins at Coorg

Saji Surendran and team have started the shooting of She Taxi, which has Kavya Madhavan playing the lead rol. It’s a comedy, scripted by Krishna Poojappura, with Anoop Menon playing the male lead. Anil Nair is the cinematographer.

Kavya Madhavan, who has been out of action for a while, is expected to be back actively in films.

Saji, who made a couple of hits after his successful entry into the big screen from TV serial circuit, had made some duds in between. His last film, Angry Babies, managed to do good business and had Anoop Menon in the lead.

Venicile Vyapari postponed to 11/11/11

Mammootty’s eagerly awaited Shafi directed Venicile Vyapari which was scheduled to release on November 4, for the Bakrid weekend has been postponed by a week.

Murali Films Madhavan Nair the producer and distributor of Venicile Vyapari has informed the Kerala theatres that his big budget film will now release on 11/11/11.

There has been a delay in the post production work of the film, hence the film has been pushed by a week.

The trade feels 11/11/11 is an ideal day to release Venicile Vyapari, as the date comes only once in 100 years.

Mammootty will appear in three different get-up’s in the film, which starts in late 1970’s till current period.

Venicile Vyapari has Mammootty, Kavya Madhavan, Poonam Bajwa, Suraj Venjaranmoodu and Salim Kumar among others in the cast.

Script writer James Albert is coming together for the first time with Shafi and Mammootty. There is a positive buzz about the film.

Bharath Murali award for kavya

Kavya Madhavan was selected for the second Bharath Murali award for best performance, initiated by the Bharath Murali cultural centre. The actress was named for the award for her life like execution of the lead role in the new movie ‘Gaddhama’. The award which carry a cash purse of 10001 rupees and a shield, will be  given away in a function at kottaarakkara on the fifth of August.

The centre has earmarked his award for the best performance by a female in a Mollywood film in an year.K P AC Lalitha was the recipient of the award in its first year.

Amritha awards for Mammootty, Kavya and T D Dasan

Mammootty an Kavya Madhavan was adjudged the best in the acting departments in the Amrita Television and Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) film awards for 2010  announced, yesterday. While ‘T.D. Dasan Standard VI D’ has won the award for the best film and its director Mohan Raghavan has won the award for the best director.

Mammootty has been adjudged the best actor for his performance in ‘Pranchiyettan and the Saint’ while  Kavya Madhavan won the award for her role in ‘Gaddama’. The Abhinaya Keerthi Puraskaram will be presented to Mohanlal. The lifetime achievement award will be presented to K.J. Jesudas, while the Yuva Keerthi Puraskaram will be presented to Kunjacko Bobban and popular hero award to Dileep

The year’s national award winner Salim Kumar has won the special mention of the jury for his role in ‘Adaminte Makan Abu’..

While Vikram is the best Tamil male actor and Amala Paul is named a  the best female Tamil actor.

The honours were decided by a 7 member jury panel of eminent personalities from various branches of the media , chaired by veteran director K.S Sethumadhavan. It is the first time that the Film Employees Federation is involved with a channel to announce their awards.

The awards will be presented in a colorful grand gala entertainment extravaganza at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium at Kochi on June 4.

Christian Brothers censored

Joshy directed big budget multi-starrer Christian Brothers, has been cleared by the censors with a UA certificate.

The 2 hours 55 minutes film produced by AV Anoop and Subair is said to be an edge of the seat action packed entertainer.

Christian Brothers has Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi, Dileep, Sharath Kumar, Lakshmi Rai, Kavya Madhavan, Kaniha and Lakshmi Gopalasamy in the cast.

The film is now confirmed for release on March 18 in nearly 170 screens in Kerala and rest of India.

In Chennai the film is releasing in seven screens.

Kavya in an author backed role


Noted director Kamal is back with his new movie titled Gaddama, which was shot in Dubai and other parts of UAE.

Kamal who has written some of the best roles for heroines in Malayalam cinema has Kavya Madhavan in the title role. In Gulf countries, girls working as maids or housekeeper are called Gaddama by Arab’s. The film is based on such girls and Kavya has an author backed role.

Script is by K.Gireesh Kumar and Kamal. Sreenivasan plays the male lead along with Suraaj Venjharamood, Murali Krishna, Jaffar Iddukki and Sukumari include the cast.

P.V.Pradeep produced Gaddama has cinematography by Manoj Pillai. Production Controller of this movie is Shafeer Seth. Art Direction will be done by Suresh Kollam. Make Up will be done by Pandyan. Costumes are designed by Anil Kumar. Lyrics were penned by Rafeeq Ahmed has music by Benett Ritrag.
