Asha Sharath in Kamal Haasan’s ‘Thoongaa Vanam’

Kamal Haasan has a habit of repeating actors in his films. After Viswaroopam, he went ahead and cast the same Andrea and Pooja Kumar in Uttama Villain. Now after working with Asha Sarath in Papanasam, he has cast her once again in his next film Thoonga Vanam.

“Asha Sharath’s performance is brilliant and hence we have roped her in my production house’s next film “ said Kamal Haasan at the recent media meet of Papanasam. Now, the actress has revealed that she will be seen as a doctor in Kamal’s new action thriller.

Jayaram’s son makes his Kollywood debut

After he stunned all with his fantastic mimicry of the Tamil superstars Ajit, Suriya and Vijay at an awards function, everyone was eagerly awaiting the announcement of Kalidas Jayaram`s launch as a hero.

The formal announcement has come. Kalidas, the son of Malayalam star Jayaram, will play the hero in Tamil director Balaji Tharaneedharan`s forthcoming film titled Oru Pakka Kathai. The announcement was made by the legend Kamal Haasan at a function in Chennai.

Kalidas is an award winning child artiste, who played the lead role in the Siby Malayil film, Ente Veedu Appoontem.

Balaji Tharaneedharan is the director of the Tamil hit, Naduvile Konjam Pakkathe Kanom.

Kamal Haasan lauds Ajith’s Arrambam

Padmashree Kamal Haasan has taken some time out of his busy schedule and appears to have watched Arrambam in a multiplex in Bangalore. “Kamal adored Ajith, Arya, Nayantara and Vishnuvardhan for choice of roles and justified screen space for all the stars.”

It is worth mentioning that Ajith was in awe with Arya’s role and Vishnuvardhan’s rich taking after watching Arrambam special screening. Ajith’s Arrambam is said to have minted 30crs net during opening weekend.

Kamal injured in Vishwaroopam 2 sets


Kamal Haasan, who is busy shooting for the sequel of his Vishwaroopam titled Vishwaroopam2, is suffering from a leg injury.

Close sources of the actor-director-producer says, Kamal’s leg got injured while shooting for a car stunt sequence for his upcoming movie Vishwaroopam2. It’s a minor hurt and soon he will be back on to the sets.

Starring Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah and Sekhar Kapur, Vishwaroopam2 is a spy-thriller as its forerunner and Kamal is set for doing dangerous action stunts for his film. Kamal Haasan is seemingly inspiring the upcoming stars, also competing with stars who are half of his age

‘Vishwaroopam’ to release Jan 25: Kamal Haasan

viswaroopamRebuffing all rumours circulating around the release of his forthcoming film “Vishwaroopam”, actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan says the movie will hit the screens worldwide Jan 25.

“Based on unstinted support of Tamil Nadu theatre owners and distributors fraternity, ‘Vishwaroopam’ will release on Jan 25,” Kamal said in a statement.

“My film (‘Vishwaroopam’) will be released in not less than 500 screens in Tamil Nadu,” he added.

“Vishwaroopam” was scheduled to first premier on Direct-To-Home (DTH) platform Jan 10, but the event was called off following stiff protests by theatre owners. However, Kamal Haasan has now reiterated that the film will also be released via DTH, but the date has not been finalised yet.

“I appreciate the exhibitors and distributors for having understood my vision of creating new revenue stream for film producing community through DTH,” said Kamal Haasan.

The film, which stars Kamal in the title role, also features Andrea Jeremiah and Pooja in the lead. Rahul Bose, Shekhar Kapur and Jaideep Ahlawat are among other actors in the movie.

Kamal, 58, has written, directed and produced “Vishwaroopam”, which will also be released in Telugu with the same name, while in Hindi it will release as “Vishwaroop”.

Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy have composed the music for the film, which has cinematography by Sanu Verghese.

Kamal Haasan starts shooting ‘Vishwaroopam 2′


“Vishwaroopam” is slated to release Jan 11, but superstar Kamal Haasan reveals he has also started shooting for its sequel.

“Right now we are in the process of making ‘Vishwaroopam 2′. We have finished the script and we have even started shooting for the film,” Kamal said.

“We will have the same star cast because we are starting the sequel from where we left the first one. It will be a continuation,” he added.

Kamal reveals the sequel to “Vishwaroopam”, a bilingual action-thriller, will be entirely shot in India.

“This will be completely shot in India because ‘Vishwaroopam’ was shot abroad. You will understand why it is shot in India once you see the film,” said the 58-year-old, who has directed “Vishwaroopam” and even acted in it.

Asked if it is his immense confidence in “Vishwaroopam” that he has already started shooting for the sequel, he said: “Of course! That’s what we live with… we plan for tomorrow. I live my life with hope.”

“Vishwaroopam” also features Pooja Kumar, Shekar Kapur, Rahul Bose, Andrea Jeremiah and Jaideep Ahlawat.

Kamal Haasan & Shruti Haasan in a film


Kamal Haasan and his daughter Shruti Haasan are set to share the screen for a new film to be made in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi trilingual versions. Kamal has informed recently that the story is all ready and the project will take off once Shruti’s Hindi as a lead actress hits the screens.

Shruti Haasan has notable releases in the form of “7th Sense” with Suriya and “3” with Dhanush while her Telugu film Gabbar Singh has turned blockbuster hit. Shruti Haasan is busy with a couple of Telugu films Yevadu and Balupu while she is shooting for her Hindi film taking shape in the hands of choreographer turned director Prabhudeva.

On the other hand, Kamal Haasan is waiting for the release of his magnum opus Vishwaroopam for Pongal that is directed and produced by him.

Viswaroopam on Aug 24?

Kamal Haasan is being reported to be gearing up to screen his magnum opus Viswaroopam on 24th of this August, as the movie was waiting for the solo release from past few months.

There is abuzz in the Kollywood tinsel town on the delay of Viswaroopam release, it is said that Kamal has quoted certain amounts for the distributors namely Rs.80cr for Tamil version, Rs.55cr for Hindi and Rs.25cr for the Telugu edition respectively, which is a huge some and the distributors have no words for the counter offer and Ulaganayagan has to wait so long.

Now there were some statements mills that Kamal Haasan is likely to release his Viswaroopam on Aug 24th seeking a solo release in Bollywood and Tollywood along with Kollywood. As per the day we have Salman Khan’s ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ on Aug 15, Jeeva’s Mugamoodi and Akshay Kumar’s Joker on Aug 31. Let us wait to watch Viswaroopam on screens soon.
