‘Mogudu’ title confirmed for Gopichand’s next

It is well aware that Krishnavamsi is planning to direct a film with Gopichand as hero. Nallamalupu Srinivas (Bujji) had agreed to produce the movie and the flick is likely to hit the floors in March.

The latest information is that the director and producer came to an understanding to title the film as ‘Mogudu’ and are presently busy in finalising the remaining casting and technicians.

Gopichand who tasted a failure like ‘Wanted’ recently, is busy making efforts to regain the past image by delivering a big hit in the direction of a creative director like Krishnavamsi.

This would be their debut combination and the director too is committed to deliver a big hit as most of his recent flicks bumped at the Box Office.

Krishnavamsi had some other projects on hand with Nagarjuna and Ram Charan. As both of them are busy with their respective films, he had decided to take up a project with Gopichand immediately.

Boyapati Srinu’s Jr. NTR starrer titled Churakatti?

Director Boyapati Srinu’s proposed Jr. NTR starrer, produced by K.S. Rama Rao under the banner of Creative Commercials, has been reportedly titled Churakatti. However, other reports suggest that Gharjana is the name under consideration.

It is also learnt that actress Trisha is likely to be the heroine. But some say that Vogue beauty Shruti Haasan, who recently gave a marvelous performance in Anaganaga O Dheerudu, is most likely to be the female lead. The film is expected to go on floors shortly. More details are awaited.

Jr. NTR is currently busy with Mehar Ramesh’s big budget extravaganza Shakti, produced by Ashwini Dutt under the banner of Vyjayathi Movies. Ileana is the heroine.

Ileana joins Vijay’s Nanban (3 Idiots) sets in Coimbatore

Slim beauty Ileana has joined the sets of ace director Shankar’s Tamil-Telugu remakes of super hit Bollywood film 3 Idiots on Monday (January 31). The actress flew down to Coimbatore from Hyderabad and is currently canning the wedding scenes in the film. Ileana is reprising Kareena Kapoor’s role in the original.

Ending all speculations about the Tamil title of 3 Idiots, Gemini Film Circuit recently announced the Tamil title as Nanban. The Telugu title is 3 Rascals. The announcement also confirmed Vijay, Srikanth and Jiiva as the three leads in the movie.

Vijay will appear as the unorthodox genius Rancchod Das (played by Aamir Khan), while Jiiva and Srikanth will appear as the naïve Farhan Qureshi and Raju Rastogi (played by Madhavan and Sharman Joshi respectively). Sathyaraj appears as the insensitive professor Virus (played by Boman Irani).

Rajni to team up with Shankar again?

Looks like our Superstar Rajinikanth is on a signing spree. Sources close to the actor reveal that after completing Rana, Rajni is likely to team up with director Shankar again for the third time. The proposed project will be produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin under his home banner Red Giants Movies.

Meanwhile, Rajni’s Rana is likely to go on floors in March and Bollywood sensation Deepika Padukone will be the heroine. Rajni will be seen in a triple role and A.R. Rahman will compose music for this magnum opus. The cinematographer would be Ratnavelu and the special effects will be handled by Rajni’s daughter Soundarya. Rana will be made simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

‘Billa-2’ to be completed in 90 days

Vishnuvardhan is finally ready to direct his favourite star Ajith once again. The ‘Billa’ duo will this time come together for ‘Billa-2’, a prequel to the blockbuster. The film will go on floors in April, once the Thala completes his 50th venture ‘Mankatha’.

“The script is ready long back and Vishnuvardhan is just waiting for Ajith to complete Mankatha. Billa-2 will be completed in 90 days and will hit the screens in 2011 itself,” say sources in the know.

They add: “Vishnuvardhan has always completed shoots of all his earlier films in three months. So he has decided to wrap up Billa-2 too within the same time. His script, which has all the technical details, will come to his rescue to achieve the target.”

Besides ‘Billa-2’, Vishnuvardhan also has in hands a Telugu project with Pawan Kalyan. Titled ‘The Shadow’, the film is a high voltage action entertainer which will have some big names in its cast.

Shriya’s lessons

The IIT-Madras had to witness a beautiful lecturer recently, when Shriya Saran was there to deliver a talk on movies and film industry. She used the occasion to take an important message to the young minds- not to encourage piracy.

“You guys must say no to piracy. In fact, piracy is being controlled and funded by and for terrorism,” the actress said, during her interactive talk. Needless to say, her lecture was a huge hit among the student community.

It was only after the talk Shriya revealed a fact that she was not feeling well. “Was really unwell, still came for the lecture,” the actress wrote on her microblogging page. “Guys concentrated more on listening then shouting,” she added.

On her experience on the premises of the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras, one of the premier institutions in the country, she tweeted: “IIT-M has a beautiful campus. Love the people I met. I enjoyed Q n A.”

Race to start on February 4

Kunchacko Boban’s Race is releasing this Friday (February 4).

Race is directed by Kukku Surendran under the banner of Penta Vision and features Kunchacko Boban and Mamta Mohandas in leading roles.

It is Kukku Surendran’s third directorial venture after the critically acclaimed Oral and Veeraalippattu.

There is a good buzz around the film after the release of Traffic since the movie subject is also based on time.

The story shows how a family’s life changes within 24 hours.

In Race, Kuchacko Boban is doing the role of Dr. Aby John and Mamtha Mohandas appears as his wife Niya.

Others in the cast include Indrajith, Gowri Munjal, Jagathy Sreekumar, Baby Ankitha and Geetha Vijayan.

Jose K George and Shaji Mecheri are jointly producing this film.

‘The King and the Commissioner’ would be dynamite: Shaji Kailas

Director Shaji Kailas says that his new film ‘The King and the Commissioner’ would be dynamite material.

Shaji says that it was script writer Ranji Panicker’s assurance that led to the idea of this film. “We couldn’t work together for fifteen years since Ranji was busy,” says Shaji.

Mammootty would play Joseph Alex IAS, the character that he played in the megahit film ‘The King’, while Suresh Gopi would play Bharath Chandran IPS, the character that he played in the megahit film ‘Commissioner’.

Ranji talks of the camaraderie these two characters share as ‘ a friendship that tears each other apart on sight’! The dialogues of the film are expected to be explosive and the film itself is expected to rock the box office.
