Aishwarya’s ‘Heroine’ unveiled @ Cannes!

We had earlier told you how Kareena Kapoor was first approached by Madhur Bhandarkar for his dear script ‘Heroine’ and the heroine turned it down for reasons best known to her. We had also told you that Aishwarya was approached Madhur after this and actress gave nod for the project.

Well now, at the recently held Cannes Film festival, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan along with Madhur Bhandarkar and Ronnie Screwvala unveiled the first-look of this film! This is the first time the trio are coming together for a project.

The movie is produced by UTV Motion Pictures and will feature Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as a superstar, the project will go on floors by June this year. ‘Heroine’ is said to be the most ambitious project of Madhur Bhandarkar.

The film will be an entertaining, daring, emotional, glamorous, behind the scenes account of the reality behind the world of glitz and glamour. For a country obsessed with films and film stars, ‘Heroine’ will take audiences on a voyeuristic journey to see what really goes on behind the closed doors of make-up rooms and vanity vans. It will give them a chance to go beyond the gorgeous smiles. Remember his ‘Fashion’ with Priyanka Chopra that gave a stunning account of the modeling world?

This is the film Bhandarkar has been subconsciously preparing for ever since he joined the industry and one which he considers his magnum opus.

Speaking to the media Aishwarya Rai said, “This new venture certainly looks like a strong creative synergy and I look forward to this new journey in film”.

While you take a glimpse at the first-look of ‘Heroine’ we’ll get back to updating you with the latest in the Indian Film industry!

Aishwarya was the first choice for Dum Maro Dum

Guess what! Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was the first choice to play cameo in Abhishek Bachchan starrer Dum Maro Dum. Though Ash was approached initially for the role of Abhishek’s wife it went to Vidya finally. Abhishek stars as ACP Vishnu Kamath in the film. His wife played by Vidya Balan in DMD has a miniscule role but it forms an important portion in the film. Though Aishwarya was about to play the role initially, things didn’t worked in the end leading Rohan to search for other options. Mind you Aishwarya is a good pal of Rohan Sippy. Ash took Rohan with her to celebrate Abhishek’s birthday in New Zealand while he was shooting for Players earlier this year. Add to it, this is not the first time that Ash has opted out of AB baby’s films; there were reports which said that Mrs. Jr Bachchan was the preferred option for Sarah Jane Dias role in Game but that too didn’t worked out. Well, it was good for Aishwarya considering Game’s dismal performance at the BO. When asked Rohan Sippy, he was immediate to divert the topic by saying that Vidya had done an excellent job in DMD and was gracious enough to accept the role. “Vidya is a towering performer and who better than Vidya to replace Ash. Considering the on-screen chemistry that Abhishek and Vidya shared in Paa it was evident for Rohan Sippy to ask Vidya for DMD”, added our source. So one should wait till Ladies and Gentlemen releases for the off-screen couple [Abhi-Ash] to play on-screen couple again.

Aishwarya charms at World Kannada Sammelan

The queen of Indian cinema Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan was the cynosure of all eyes yesterday at the inaugural programme of the World Kannada Sammelan held in Belgaum. Aishwarya arrived in a special aircraft at Sambra airport on Friday evening to attend the event. Earlier in the day Shiv Sena had asked her not to participate in the meet as it was against the Marathis.

Addressing the mammoth crowd of 70000 plus Aishwarya surprisingly began her speech in Kannada, Ido samastha Kannadigarige nanna vandane,” she said, eliciting loud applause. “Ellarigu preethiya namaskaragalu… nannannu abhimana-dinda karesi gouravisiddakke nanu abhari,” she said and then changed over to Hindi. Later keeping aside her prepared speech, she spoke her heart out, expressing gratitude for the love and honour bestowed on her by the Kannadigas.

Thanking the chief minister and other organisers for inviting her, she said, “I am happy to be here. I salute the people of Karnataka for giving me this opportunity to come here.”
