The year 1983 is a landmark as far as India is concerned. The year marked the first time when the Indian cricket team emerged victorious bringing home the World Cup. Malayalam too celebrated cricket and the 1983 victory through the movie ‘1983’ starring Nivin Pauly. Another 1983 movie is now in the offing.
This time, the movie is a fictional real time narration of the events leading up to the 1983 victory. The Bollywood movie is being directed by Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan and has Randeep Hooda playing Kapil Dev. Bollywood has a good collection of sports based movies, including ‘Lagan’, ‘Goal’, ‘Chak de India’ etc.
Nivin Pauly who is riding high on his hat trick success has a number of upcoming projects. His recent projects, Abrid Shine’s ‘1983’ and Jude Antony’s ‘Om Santhi Osana’ were super hit movies. Anjali Menon’s youth movie ‘Bangalore Days’ is running successfully in packed houses.
